Our Boys... Run, Nat, Run... Happy Birthday!

Boys~
It's been a while since we've posted anything to our blog.... So we thought we'd catch up a bit. In mid September, Casey and I found our boys asleep at the same time! (heavenly music plays) The funniest part was where and how Ethan chose to fall asleep.

RUN!!!
My sister-in-law, Angie, and I decide to tempt our fates by running a 5K here in Boise. It's the largest all-women 5K in the nation... so we thought it'd be fun to do it. Little did we know that it would down pour rain that morning. The almost canceled the race due to lightening. It was hard to keep our muscles warm because our $1 emergency ponchos only covered us to mid-thigh so our legs were soaked through well before we ever started running. We toughed it out, though. The rain may have even helped me run faster because I was ready to be done before we got started. Angie was awesome and kept us at a great pace- a pace I could not have maintained without her. Against all odds, I finished the race without stopping, which was my goal from the get-go. And with a time of 27:57, within the top 1/4 of the runners... not too shabby. I didn't train as hard as I needed to and it's been hard to admit to myself that I'm not the 16 year old fit soccer player I once was. Next year I hope to run again. I'm hoping for a better time, but we'll see how fast I recover from having our third little one next April...  I might just shoot for finishing the race without stopping, again. We'll see. =0)

Still dry... waiting for the shuttle to take us downtown.

Angie coming down the home stretch. Casey had zoomed in to get a good shot of Ang when she veered over to them to give her girls high fives. The camera couldn't adjust fast enough so this was the shot she got. I love it!

VICTORIOUS! -- I thought it was funny how Angie and I differed on how we felt about the race. She kept saying how fun it was. And I'm sure it was for her because she'd trained well. As for me.... I just kept thinking, "ENDURE."   I'm glad that I have an excuse to wait another nine months before attempting this again!

Happy Birthday, Ethan!
Ethan is 1 year old! (Oct 3rd) We celebrated as a family that night with the traditional birthday song and Kade giving his brother a special gift he picked out on his very own... a hot wheels car! On Sunday, we had a family get-together with Jer, Jenny, and their girls  to eat cake. Ethan loved the cake and didn't mind the sticky frosting at all. He was a lot fun to watch dig into his (very extremely awesome) cake that I made for him.

Ethan sitting like a champ in the mini rocker, ready for his present!

Oct 5th:
Ethan's cool cake! Boise State colors and all!

The cupcakes that everyone else shared. It was Casey's idea to make them all look like footballs with the lacing. I thought it turned out great!

Ethan found his cousin's water and started to dip his spoon in it. It doesn't take much to entertain such a little guy! He had a ball!

Munching down on his birthday cake.
